What Andy Reid Was Really Saying Today....

***OK, OK, so this post is not TECHNICALLY about a mascot, but thought I would share my thoughts in red, following the Eagles head coach, Andy Reid's press conference this afternoon, the first time he spoke since the Eagles' season ended....I wonder what Swoop or even Air Swoop thought (haha - mascot mention!!)

REAL SWOOP                                                    vs.           AIR SWOOP

Dissecting andy reid quotes from press conference, and what they really meant....

Andy Reid: Appreciate your patience, thought it was important to take a step back and evaluate.  ohh...this should be good!!
Reid: "We've got to do better at home throughout the season." wait but it is ok to lose all of the away games??
AR:  My primary goal here is to win games for the team and city. I'm juggling many players, personalities (and pizzas) - team needs to hang together.
Reid: I think Vick understands importance of turnovers. Offseason of study is important. umm...he "thinks" Vick understands the importance of turnovers??  Somebody get out there and make SURE he understands turnovers ASAP!
AR: We will attack free agency and the Draft aggressively as we always do.  ohhh great.
Reid: "I'm very optimistic going forward, I'm very optimistic about next year." really? that's good to hear!!
Reid: "i'm not a very patient person when it comes to and winning. We're in the game and we want to win."  oh good, i thought when you are in the game you want to lose....it all makes sense now!
Reid: you can take all the stats you want, but the bottom line is we weren't good enough.  i'm not sure what stats say the eagles were good this season...anyone??
Reid: Toward the end of the season, everyone "started to pull together and play as a football team." sounds like someone needed some more preseason games!
AR: at 8-8, you'd better look in the mirror first.  wait, is there a big enough mirror for this??

Got a Sixers Mascot idea??? Dear @SixersCEOAdam....

A couple of weeks ago, Philadelphia 76ers new owner and CEO, Adam Aron, (an avid tweeter) told fans where to send their ideas for a Sixers mascot.

  • Adam Aron Go to www.NewSixersOwner.com RT Hey Adam where can I send a mascot idea to? I think I have a winner! Go Sixers!!!
So, of course I emailed the Sixers right away:
  • "We need a MASCOT - asap!!!  two ideas...a big puffy cheesesteak mascot called "Wiz" - kind of like the cheesesteak hats people wear, but make that a full body costume. He can dance around and give out free cheesesteaks at half time. and maybe even have a friend called "small fry" to tie in the mcdonalds promotion the sixers do.  second idea, a big puffy cracked liberty bell - "ding dong" - see link for idea - http://www.fabulousinflatables.com/images/galleries/costumes/liberty-bell.jpg -  these mascots should look FRIENDLY and CUTE and kind of SILLY!!!  not over-produced and weird with no connection to philly!!! make me proud!  thanks!! :) "
I haven't gotten any response from the Sixers yet to my amazing ideas....but while attending my first Sixers game of the season last night (Go sixers, they beat the Magic 74-69), I took a survey of other Sixers' fans to see what their ideas for a mascot would be:
  • Lee Porter, from Philly (mastermind behind  http://www.myruinedlife.com/) - we should keep the sixers winning streak alive, NO mascot
  • Craig R. (yes, THE Craig R. from the Bachelorette, Ali's season http://www.wetpaint.com/the-bachelorette/cast/craig-robinson) - bring back Big Shot
  • Craig R.'s unnamed friend - The Phanatic!
  • Josh - a big fat liberty bell and we could name it Belly!
  • Brian - Mr. Pretzel or Mr. Salt E (a big, soft philly pretzel)
  • Shelly (woman sitting next to me at game) - Phil E. Moose all the way!!
  • Joe F. - a muscle man like the patriots mascot, Pat Patriot
So, let's hear them! What are your ideas for a Sixers mascot??

Phanatic v. Billy the Marlin...

I'm getting excited for baseball season (who isn't), and when I saw the PhillyDailyNews article about the Marlins, I couldn't help but comment. So what do you think, would a stinky fish wearing an ugly bright orange pajama-type outfit (who chose this new logo and uniform?) beat the bestest mascot ever in a mascot duel???  I think NOT.  And the idea of hanging Billy on the mantle is awesome!  GO PHILLIES!
