Groundhog Mascots...do they see their shadow tomorrow???

In honor of Groundhog’s Day tomorrow, I thought we should say hello to some of the groundhog mascots that are out there…Daisy and Chopper (and no, I did not make any of this up…it is straight from their websites!!) Enjoy!!

Daisy - Texas Rangers' minor league baseball club

Daisy is a mascot for the Frisco, Texas Rangers' minor league baseball club.  She is a female groundhog cheerleader that parades around the visiting team's dugout during games, making sure the fans are enjoying themselves. Daisy is equipped with a very furry disposition, and gets the crowd excited when she heads throughout the stands adding mayhem to the minor league baseball environment.

During a recent chat with Daisy, she also mentioned she likes long walks in the moonlight, and the smell of fresh prairie in the morning. Despite being a ground "hog", she is very conscious of her weight and eats a healthy dinner every night.

CHOPPER - Gwinnett Braves Minor League mascot.

What is Chopper?
Chopper is a Maramota monax, better known as a Groundhog, Woodchuck or Whistlepig. He was born on September 15, 2008, in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Chopper is 6'2" (and 2'6" wide) and weighs in at 225 lbs; he maintains a healthy weight by eating a lot of salads. He was named the 2009 Mascot of the Year by Gwinnett.

Likes and Dislikes
Chopper loves it when fans do the Tomahawk Chop. He also likes to tease the opposing team's first base coach, swipe cotton candy from the stadium vendors and beat on his own drum! He enjoys celebrating Groundhog Day, but does not enjoy seeing his shadow - Chopper hates winter!
